Note from the Associate Provost

It was great to meet so many of you and your families at Summer Advising in June! If you were not able to attend Summer Advising you should contact me as soon as possible about registering for your Fall 2011 courses. Students who did not attend Summer Advising return to campus and move in on August 24 so they can attend a shortened version of the Summer Advising program.

As you think about making the transition from high school student to college student, I recommend

• "How is College Different From High School" a good short introduction to college academic life by the staff of the Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center at Southern Methodist University
• "The Fifteen Habits of Top College Students" by professors Lynn F. Jacobs and Jeremy S. Hyman of the education site of US News and World Report.

Be sure you are logging in to WebAdvisor often, since new information – from billing to residence hall assignment to your course schedule is posted there as it becomes available. You can also click on the icons below for important information about life on campus and resources to support your academic success; the links under Important Dates also provide a great deal of information. And we hope you'll join the Washington College Class of 2015 Facebook group. It's a great way to get to know other members of your class before you arrive. I'm a member of the group, too, and post answers to any questions that students ask there.
